Did you know that a film is six times more likely to be directed by a man rather than a woman? The scale of the problem makes it impossible for the system to rebalance by itself. The number of women directors working in the UK lm industry will only ever improve with direct industry wide intervention.
This is something we take very seriously at Red Bucket. In an industry where female filmmakers are actually declining and hold fewer than one in five crew roles, we are doing our bit to address this issue and redress the balance. We make an effort to recognise talent and experience in both young and older women, to either provide the step into the industry that they need, or recognise their life experience as a useful asset to our business. We do everything we can for mothers with small children, enabling them to juggle care and re-entry into the industry, and strongly believe in flexible working to help with this. We value the importance of creating opportunities for staff to learn and grow, whatever the stage of their career. We’re always looking to hear from talent who feel they could benefit from such a supportive environment – so if this is you, do get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org
